Buria Sneak Peak

Beautiful, intimate, and with a twist of Latino flare was the theme for Orlando and Karina's wedding. We shot their wedding at the cozy Davenport located in downtown Greer. She and the girls were pampered at the lovely Victoria Salon, where we were able to capture some amazing shots in one of the most beautiful salons in the upstate.

I love the color and texture that was part of their wedding. From the walls and railroad tracks of the town to the lighted feather balls and warm glow of the reception hall, each element had character that was both artistic and real.

at the church....but elsewere

As much as we love outside weddings locations, it's inevitable that we'll have to shoot inside a church from time to time. And it's a well known fact, that certain types of churches are more "photogenic" that other churches, but that doesn't mean you have to live with non-creative, boring photography for the wedding day.

The images below were shot inside a church, with the exception of the bride and groom portraits lying on the ground with roses petals and the back of the bride facing the groom. This particular church we were shooting in, had a kids area that was decorated with various themes. We found this area particularly useful, for creating unique imagery, in what was otherwise a "boring modern environment". It's a constant goal of ours to take an area that is normal, and capture something magical, or at least find a place where that magic can happen!

We find it advantageous to arrive early at each location we shoot at, to scope out a plan for that days pictures. I encourage any photographer to use this as their "secret weapon". There's something to be said for those who can capture "the moment" as it's happening, but consider taking that a step further and choosing the place in which "that moment" can be captured. Regardless of location, there will be wonderful split-second moments to capture throughout the day, and to some degree you have control over where some of the moments can occur. Don't just capture "the moment", capture the moment in the perfect setting; it will take your pictures to the next level.

wygant: sneak peek

Wow! There is so much say about this beautiful wedding; so many wonderful memories!

Lauren and Josh's wedding took place at the amazing gardens of Magnolia Place located in Charleston, SC. We started the shoot in downtown Charleston, allowing us the opportunity to capture some local flare and then quickly moved to the gardens for the reminder of the shoot.

The wedding took place in one of the many alcoves inside the gardens. Spanish Moss hung from very old trees, peacocks strutted about, roaming free, and ponies wandered contentedly in their fenced in areas. As the wedding moved from ceremony to reception, we were able to capture much laughter and dancing on the huge wrap around porch surrounding the main plantation house in the middle of the gardens. Add a cigar toast and a paper plane exit parade, and you have a wedding day any bride would hope for!

McCarson Sneak Peek!

(cue soft guitar medley)

Outdoor weddings are my favorite to shoot. Church weddings can become so "same-old, same-old", which really pushes our creativity, especially with some of the restrictions churches can put on us photographers, keeping us from getting the shots we want and know would look the best.

It's with this in mind, that made Tim and Carrie's wedding so refreshing. With an afternoon wedding scheduled lakeside in the beautiful village of Asheville, NC, we couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere and lighting to shoot in. It's times like these where creativity is set loose and roams free; allowed to wander and climbing to heights as euphoric as a piece of chocolate in ones mouth after a sip of coffee on a crisp fall day.
