Gun Safety 101. Finger OFF the trigger unless you intend to shoot. He's gonna get a nice gash in his head, compliments of the action, when that thing goes off. . .
sam, this is the place in the movie where the hordes evil are running towards our hero, and he is mentally preparing for the carnage he knows he must soon incur. (of course by doing this, he will be saving the whole planet and several other galaxies and inter-dimensional governments in the process)
