why choose us..."when you have friends with digital cameras?"

Why would you pay us to photograph your wedding, senior portrait, children or pregnancy?

We all have friends who own digital cameras right? And they probably take pretty decent pictures too. Digital has opened up the field of photography like no other era for the budding and wannabe photographer. So why pay hundreds or even thousands, when "you have a friend, who knows a friend who's great at taking pictures—for less?

It's all about vision
Vision. It finds new continents, it takes people to space, it creates new ways to live and does a thousand other things.

Ask yourself, do you really believe that anyone with a nice camera can shoot well? If not, then why trust a friend of a friend with memories that will only come once in your life, just to save a little money?

We only get one shot; and even if we are fortunate to "repeat" an event in our lives, it's never like "the last time"; there's always something different. Life is ever changing; it's liquid. You try and catch it, and it runs between your hands as quickly as air brushing on your skin.

It's true, I believe anyone can take a picture, but I don't believe everyone has vision.
I'm not asking you to choose me, I'm asking you to find a photographer with vision, that matches the style you want and please use them——knowing they can capture that "extra magic", that "sweet wonder", you are hoping to remember years from now, after that special moment passes by, and life continues on.

You are worth it. Photographers with vision and the power of concept are worth it. We love what we do. It's our passion, and it's one of the many things that gets me excited and keeps me dreaming with wonder. Your shoot is as important to me as it is to you, and I can't wait for the opportunity to share my vision with you!

wishing you well and much love,

-TJ

snakes; yes we can do that! (and more)

We are always striving to to bring you "the next level" whether it be our attention to detail, or some unique theme that helps take your photo shoot to a place that's beyond "point and shoot photography."

We often strive for that magazine look, where you feel like you stepped right out of a scene in a movie, music video, or painting; more real than life, but grounded in a common goal of fun and adventure.

All it takes is a phone call or email, and we can help custom design a wonderful photography experience just for you. And remember, you don't need a special event like a wedding or engagement to get your image made. Maybe you want to do something creative for that special someone in your life, or perhaps you just want to do something different to remember the point of life your in.

Whatever your reason, we can help make it happen and help you have a fun and enjoyable shoot through the whole experience!

choosing a photographer (the value of the little things)

They say clothes makes the man. And regardless of how you feel about it, it still holds true that clothing choice is an important part of every photography session. Much of our life is probably lived in "compartments" when it comes to clothes. We have our work clothes, our play clothes, our "out to dinner clothes", even our swim clothes, etc... And within that framework, most of the time we are looking for comfort.

We'll you're in luck, we're all about comfort, play and creativity here at getzcreative. We strive to show the best you in every photography session we do. And so in that spirit, we'd like to throw an idea out there for you to think about.

If you're going to spend money on a professional photography session, take time to plan. Talk to your photographer about the session. Don't feel pressured to come up with what you need on your own. A good photographer can help you look the best, not by just deciding which angle to shoot you, but also by helping you on grooming decisions; the little things.

There is more than camera technique, shooting style and photoshop that makes a good picture extordinary. Whether you believe it or not, you are a big key in how the photo will turn out, and taking note of those "subtle elements" such as grooming, makeup, and clothing choice, will all fit together to form a cohesive and beautiful you for your photography session.

In today's "digital age" we have gotten sloppy, thinking it can be fixed in photoshop or "that's the photographers problem", however, the photography process is still a team effort. It takes everyone bringing a 110% to the shoot to create a truly wonderful session.

So ladies, next time you spend some dollars on a photography session, groom those eyebrows, make sure your nails (both finger and toes) are ready to be photographed. Ask your photographer about makeup or even consider hiring a professional makeup artist (we love ours, and it makes a big difference!). Also, ask your photographer about clothing options. And don't just choose that "safe" button up shirt, kakhi pants, and well ironed skirt or capris. Make the shoot memorable. Have fun for those few hours, being the best version of yourself, and even delving into a little bit of fantasy, creating a well designed you.

Remember, the little things matter. And if you take the time to make them important before each photo session, the benefits will not only be quite visible, but you'll possibly see yourself in a way you've never seen yourself before!

alex & holly: a new connection (partial)

I wouldn't be my best without my wife. Michelle is different in more ways to myself than I have room to list in this short post. But I will tell you, I know she helps make me who I am today and who I hope to be tomorrow.

No matter what the reason is we get married, somewhere along the path of life, we find a connection, a drawing of the opposite, that gives us new perspective, and tests our current mindset; encouraging us to change and morph into something beyond our current self!

I'm not going to lie, It hurts to change; to become someone better than the mediocre being we're used to being before being tested in whatever fire burns off the dross in our current self. And though it hurts, part of us wants it, and that is the part we hold onto while the change is happening.

In many ways we even asked for it, when we chose to connect to another being; a new personality. I have found so much change in my own life come through my relationship with Michelle. Married ten years now, and realizing my path to a better self, a more selfless self, has just begun.

The joy of being a father, a lover, a friend and husband all provide opportunities of amazing joy, and within each of those experiences, are a chance to become more aware of life outside of myself.

The connection with Michelle that has happened over the last decade is not a solitary occurrence, but rather, an occurrence which happens to each of us, when connecting with another human through life's journey.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michelle and I had the opportunity to photograph the growing connection between Alex and Holly. And one thing that hits me after shooting each couple, is the fact that you can't fake love. It's in the eyes, the subtle movement between the two lives who are drawn to one another, and who wish to be nowhere else but with each other.

Alex and Holly, thank you for being you and for allowing us to capture, in our creative way, the love you each share for one another.

2009 WPPI Album: Accolade of Excellence

We recently submitted one of our albums into an international competition against other wedding photographers from around the world. Our album was one of the several that made it into the finals, winning an accolade of excellence for creativity, album design and professional excellence.

Every album we work on is different, and no two are exactly alike. We hope you enjoy seeing the creativity we put into your special day, along with the presentation of the album design itself.
